The River

Life is a relentless river we all must brave. It is filled with twists and turns that we never can quite see around. Sometimes there lies a quiet stretch, with lush and fertile banks; it's very tempting to pull off and stop, but The River pulls us ever forward. Other times we find only tumultuous rapids that threaten to sink the raft. It seems there's no way through, but The River pulls us ever forward.

We entered The River with family and friends, but The River has many branches. People drift together for brief periods, and then drift away, often never to be seen again. Sometimes we find ourselves drifting on alone, with no one but the river to guide us.

Other times those individual branches unite once again, and familiar faces abound. These times are good, My Dear, but there lies another turn ahead; and The River pauses for no one. Listen, can you hear what's around the bend? Come let us bind our rafts together; none need face The River alone.

Do not fear that you will sink my raft, for I can swim. Nor fear that I will sink yours, for what is mine is also yours. Together we will relax on the smooth water. Together we will conquer rapids no one else dares even attempt. Together, My Dear.
